Numerical Study on Sinusoidal Fluctuated Pulsatile Laminar Flow Through Various Constrictions
نویسندگان
چکیده
Numerical simulations have been carried out for laminar sinusoidal pulsating flow in a tube with smooth single constriction. A second-order finite volume method has been developed to solve the fluid flow governing equations on a nonstaggered non-orthogonal grid. The effects of the Reynolds number, the Womersley number, the pulsatile amplitude, the constriction ratio and the constriction length on fluid flow in constricted tube will be investigated. It will be demonstrated that the dynamic nature of the pulsating flow greatly depends on the frequency of the flow changes. It is observed that the peak wall vorticity seems to increase with the increase of Reynolds number, the pulsating amplitude and the constriction ratio. The peak values of instantaneous wall vorticity are not greatly affected by the variation of Womersly number. The constriction length does not put a significant impact on the flow instantaneous streamline behaviors compared with other parameters. However, the peak wall vorticity increases monotonically with the decrease of the constriction length. PACS: 47.11.Df, 47.15.-x, 47.27.nf, 47.50.Cd, 47.63.Cb

Numerical Study of Hemodynamic Wall Parameters on Pulsatile Flow through Arterial Stenosis
In this paper hemodynamic wall parameters which play an important role to diagnose arterial disease were studied and compared for three different rheology models (Newtonian, Power law and Quemada). Also because of the pulsatile behavior of blood flow the results were obtained for three Womersley numbers which represent the frequencies of the applied pulses. Results show that Quemada model alway...

A numerical study of hemodynamic parameters of pulsatile blood flow is presented in a stenotic artery with A numerical study of hemodynamic parameters of pulsatile blood flow is presented in a stenotic artery with non-Newtonian models using ADINA. Blood flow was considered laminar, and the arterial wall was considered rigid. Studied stenosis severities were 30, 50, and 70% of the cross-section...

Arterial stenosis, for example Atherosclerosis, is one of the most serious forms of arterial disease in the formation of which hemodynamic factors play a significant role. In the present study, a 3-D rigid carotid artery with axisymmetric stenosis with 75% reduction in cross-sectional area is considered. Laminar blood flow is assumed to have both Newtonian and non-Newtonian behavior (generalize...

The turbulent pulsatile blood flow through stenosed arteries considering the elastic property of the wall is investigated numerically. During the numerical model validation both standard k-ε model and RNG K-ε model are used. Compared with the RNG K-ε model, the standard K-ε model shows better agreement with previous experimental results and is better able to show the reverse flow region. Also, ...
